I was in a desperate taco deficit. I won't go into the details as to why, trust me you don't want to know.

As great as Mexican food can be in the western regions, its absurd to expect the same genera here, as New York has its own thing going on. That’s not to say I'm not picky. People from all parts move to New York, but its never been a part of Mexico.

I don't eat meat and therefore most notes are regarding vegetarian options - I do follow the philosophy that if a place is using those horrid frozen vegetables with the tiny square carrots then they are likely to be just as disrespectful to their meat products. There is a special place in hell for people that use frozen vegetables.

Most places listed are inexpensive - tacos generally run $2 a piece and I think the most expensive burrito is around $7 - except Burrito Loco in the West Village which may have been $8 or $8.99 or something. As far as those fancy expensive places - a burrito shouldn't cost $14, it just shouldn't.
